I was recently asked to speak to a middle school about my career as an entrepreneur, model, actor, and writer. I turned it into a conversation about goals and how to achieve those goals. More than 80% of them wanted to play pro sports (which I know is typical of that age group). Hardly anything related to the arts...music, theatre, acting, singing, ect. Considering that is how I make my living (through arts) I was just a tad shocked that most of them had never even given it a single thought. How is it, that sports have such a strong hold on our younger generations? There is nothing wrong with sports, be it playing them or watching them but why are arts not really integrated into young children's minds and curriculum?

Passion

I hope to make a small difference in the world through my writing. I remember I was very young and saw a tattered book buried among so many others on a shelf. I opened it to a page that was bookmarked due to a cracked in the spine. What I read moved me so much that I hoped one day I could do the same. Francis William Bourdillion and "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes" will always be my first inspiration!

A Back Pocket Full of Poems

I was recently asked to judge a talent contest. It made me stop and think about what it means to judge people and their abilities. The entertainment and arts business is so subjective. What one person thinks is fantastic may not be to someone else. There is a basic standard of professionalism and talent in all industries. There are some that fall below that standard and some that raise above it. What someone has to have is that illusive "it" factor. "It" is very hard to describe, you know it when you see it. So, always be true to yourself because you just might be the next "it" talent!

What is success? Is it being famous or wealthy? Success to me is being consistently happy in life. Happiness is derived with being satisfied with yourself and your life. What is success to you?

Always On

8/9/2013

The synapses of my brain are always firing at warp speed. I seem to think everything and nothing at once. Who? What? When? Where? Why? And most of all... If? Wouldn't it be nice to just live in the nano second. Who would have time to think?

The “Yes” of Life

Louisville, KY, August 6, 2013-What do all models, musicians, actors, writers, and artist of all genres have in common? The extreme highs and lows of the entertainment and arts industries. The manic behavior of the numerous and dreaded “no” and then that one simply and satisfying “yes”. It is what we do with those yeses that make it count.

Lets face it, life is not easy and then you throw in the hardest professions to break into on top of that. So why do it? Why chase the never ending rainbow? In Shannon Hunt’s “A Back Pocket Full of Poems” she express those reasons and the ups and downs of the
industry as well as life in general. Based on experiences of a professional model, actress, and writer a solitude was developed through poetry. Also being married to a professional musician (John Zehnder) who travels worldwide with Gary Lewis & the Playboys (Jerry Lewis’ son) is an added wealth of experiences.

The poetry eBook is divided into five chapters of Love, Life, Faith, After Life, and Humanity. The raw truth and honesty in these chapters are relatable in some form to every person. “A Back Pocket Full of Poems” is a true work of happiness, tears, and everything in between.

Shannon Hunt has been published in over 10 poetry anthologies within the U.S. and Europe. She has also been found on the big screen, TV shows, runways, and print & editorial work. Always remember, it is what you do with the yeses of life!

Available on Vook, Barnes & Noble Nook, Apple iBookstore, & Amazon Kindle.

Make Changes

7/30/2013

At some point in our own lives we are on road that we don't want to be on anymore. We have to stop, look around, roll down the windows, and decide how to change our personal interstate. Maybe add a ramp to a different place, or a really long stop light to force ourselves to just breathe and enjoy the sites. Whatever it maybe, remember that you are the only one that can change your route.

Success is picking yourself up after failure! The more you trip and fall flat on your face the easier it gets to jump back up. Sure there are lots if scraps, bruises, and even broken bones but the scars make for great stories!

I am really excited to announce the ebook "A Back Pocket Full of Poems" has been released. This has been my blood, sweat, and tears for several years. I am so honored to share it with the world. It will be available on Vook, Apple iBookstore, Amazon Kindle, & Barnes & Noble (eISBN 9781629219561). Check out the sneak peek at...
